Imagine our surprise when we turned up at Poring Hot Springs in Sabah, Borneo and ended up having a very up, close and personal rendez-vous with their local celebrity, Jackie the Orangutan.

Hi! I’m Carrie. I’m a Canadian living in Taiwan with Ankylosing Spondylitis, Fibromyalgia, and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (MECFS), among other health issues.

When I first started MSW in 2007, I wrote a lot about living abroad and my travels in Asia. This site has never veered from its main mission statement which is to travel and learn about Asia with me.

I’ve been writing about chronic illness since 2009. MSW provides information for other chronically ill patients, patient support, and I engage in patient advocacy across many platforms.
