Morton’s Steakhouse Happy Hour – The Best View in Town

There is a part of me that hates to write about Morton’s Steakhouse Taipei because it’s still a relatively unknown space here in Taiwan right now that most people don’t know about yet.

Ah, well. Here it is. I hope you enjoy this place as much as I do!Morton's Steakhouse Taipei

Morton’s Steakhouse in Taipei offers the best Happy Hour deal in town with THE BEST view of the city from 5pm to 7pm from Monday to Friday.

Located on the 45th floor of Breeze Xinyi, Morton’s has a massive outdoor deck that provides a stunning multicolor sunset view right behind its neighbor, Taipei 101. The wraparound deck gives you incredible views of Taipei City.

The sun sets fast in Taipei, and you definitely want to be at Morton’s no later than 4:45 to see the sun set. By 6pm, it’s gone, and all that’s left of that gorgeous pink and gold sunset is the bright lights of Taipei City.

John’s mom has been visiting with us for the past seven weeks, so we thought we’d give her an evening to remember after visiting the Yangmingshan Flower Festival last week.

When we arrived at Morton’s, we found out the balcony was closed because of renovations, but they were kind enough to open it up for us after John convinced them that John’s mom had never seen anything like it. They did a brisk and steady business on the balcony after we arrived, so we hope our convincing them to open up for the night ended up being good for them.

To the good folks at Morton’s: Thank you so much for giving my mother-in-law this opportunity. We really appreciate it!

As for the food, we’ve never stayed for steak, although I have no doubt the steak is excellent.

The Executive Chef of Morton’s is well known to Taipei’s fine dining scene and he is probably one of the best chefs in town.

During Happy Hour, John and I often have their Crab, Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Parmesan Truffle Matchstick Fries, Petite Filet Mignon Sandwich Sliders and fresh cut potato chips with blue cheese dip.

John LOVES their oysters on a half shell and jumbo shrimp cocktail, but that’s not saying much because John always stuffs himself on oysters everywhere we go. (He has been known to nix a venue completely if oysters aren’t on the menu.)

Anyways, he sure looks good eating them, doesn’t he?

They also offer a few other treats that don’t suit my palette as much because of dietary restrictions, but my friends have all enjoyed their tuna and short rib tacos, mini crab cake BLT’s, mini prime cheeseburgers, iceberg wedge bites and chicken goujonettes.

After you’ve finished snacking and admiring the view, there is plenty to see and do in Breeze Xinyi, and of course, you’re right downtown with any number of bars to continue your evening at if you wish.

Bon appetit!

I'm a chronically ill Canadian who has been living in Taiwan since 2006. I'm a bit of a jack of all trades! I love art, gardening, flower arranging, reading (that's an understatement if you've seen my GoodReads profile), and snuggling with my cats. Animal videos make me cry. I hate cooking. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my garden bloom! Learning about new cultures and exploring the world has been my thing since I started traveling at age 19. A self-professed autodidact, I can speak comfortably on many different subjects and hold a special place in my heart for science, technology, law, health and medicine, and history. You can find me nerding out at home most of the time due to being chronically ill and housebound. If I'm not engaged in one of the activities listed above, I'm probably building websites. Check my About page under Carrie Kellenberger to learn why I'm taking you on this journey with me through My Several Worlds. I can't wait to get to know you better!
