Tasty Taiwanese Snails

What is it about food that gets people talking? It sparks instant conversation and curiousity. Especially if it’s a vendor selling cups of mild to spicy fried snails by the cup.  There must be some health benefits to eating these rather rotund snails, which come in cups of small, medium and large sized snails.  I just haven’t figured out what the attraction is yet!

Street food is always interesting, no matter what country you’re in, but Taiwan seems to stand heads above the rest when it comes to weird and mind-boggling street snacks. I am constantly amazed at the variety of snacks that are available at any time of day throughout the island of Taiwan.  Street vendors bring new meaning to the term, ‘fast food.’  Street food is a way of life here, as the hustle-bustle world of Taiwan sometimes leaves little time to sit and enjoy a full length meal.

Taiwanese street food is a wonderful way to sample a little bit of Taiwanese culture, especially if you’re the daring type.  It’s always an adventure, whether you are trying to satisfy a craving for the exotic or whether you’re just interested in gawking at all the oddities!

I think I’ll take the extra small thanks.

wow, one of the pure pleasures of blog reading is finding the unexpected. And this is truly a find.

I’m sure worms make pretty good protein. Though, I think I’ll let you go first.

And I love the pictures. You have such a great eye. The proportions and sizing seem just perfect.

    enjoying your stuff,

You know, I didn’t try them. I couldn’t bring myself to do it, which is why I’m not entirely sure what all the fuss is about!

However, I know where to find them if and when the mood strikes!
