A Day of BBQing in Queen Town, Sansia

By Carrie on May 11, 2008

One of Taiwan’s best kept secrets can be found in heart of Sansia, in the southwestern part of Taipei County.  It’s called Queen Town, and it’s a gorgeous little getaway spot for a day of BBQ’ing or for a weekend camping expedition.   Pool side view. BBQ Alley River Folk. Set in a lush tropical surroundings, [...]

Taroko Gorge Redux

By Carrie on April 26, 2008

The journey through Taroko Gorge National Park in Taiwan is one of the nicest rides I’ve been on in all our travels. We’ve returned twice to this unbelievable jewel of a national park and each time our experience has been different. Even with the light rain showers, we still made our way slowly along the [...]

Yangmingshan Calla Lily Festival 2008

By Carrie on April 13, 2008

The calla lilies at Bamboo Lake in Yangmingshan National Park are in full bloom. Flower lovers from all over Taiwan are rushing to the mountain to spend the afternoon wandering through a valley of white blossoms flanked by gently rolling mountains.

Come To My Window

By Carrie on March 9, 2008

This one is my personal favorite from last night. John and I are rarely home on weekends for very long.  This one was an exception.  I was hoping to go to Hukou to see my friend, The New Hampshire Bushman, but I’m still feeling weak from my ordeal.  I thought it was going to be [...]

Photo Moment in Taiwan: Wacky Buddhist Abode

By Carrie on March 2, 2008

Our motorcycle excursions brought us to this wacky little dwelling at Basian Caves, which is located along Taiwan’s Eastern Coastline on Highway 11. Note: Please see my comment below in reference to the Buddhist swastika on the front gate.

A New Camera For Ms. Globetrotter

By Carrie on January 30, 2008

Finally! After months of anticipation and saving, I finally bought my new camera, hence the lack of blogging this weekend. I’m sure you can guess what I’m preoccupied with at the moment. I’ve spent the last two months lurking around photography sites, camera review sites and blogs to get as much information as possible. Some [...]
