The Hong Kong skyline is probably one of the most recognized skylines in the world. I’ve created a photo essay to showcase the tallest buildings in Hong Kong Island. What’s your favorite?

Does Taipei have any beaches? Yes, it does! Shalun Beach is hidden down a series of back lanes near to Danshui Fisherman’s Wharf in Taipei, and it has been a well kept secret for many years.

It gives me great pleasure to be able to say that Brighton is one of the prettiest seaside cities I’ve ever been to. I had the opportunity to visit my best friend in Brighton in September 2011, and I’m now looking forward to my second trip to Brighton in September 2013. Brighton is a resort [...]

A few weeks ago, I passed my ten year milestone in Asia. When I embarked on my journey of self discovery so long ago, I never once imagined that I’d still be here after all this time. Going home during my first year was certainly not an option, and I had only been in China for a [...]

Ask any ESL teacher that has taught abroad and they’ll tell you that their first few months, heck the first year, is rife with challenges. What happens, though, when the country that you’ve moved to suddenly experiences a health epidemic, like SARS or Avian flu, Here’s what happened to me during the 2003 SARS epidemic in Mainland China.

It’s a scary thing to pick up and move your life to the other side of the world. I got my first taste of that when I was 27 and on my way to Changchun, China on the 23rd of March, 2003. I was going to spend a year abroad teaching English in China. It was the start of an incredible journey spanning ten years.

If you’re a temple lover in Taiwan, one of the best (and craziest!) places to visit is Lotus Pond, also known as Lotus Lake. Lotus Pond is a large manmade body of water in Kaoshiung, Southern Taiwan. Its shoreline is liberally studded with many bizarre looking temples and pagodas.
