The Fall 2009 Issue of Hip Compass Escapes digital travel magazine is here.
John and I traveled to the Pescadores, one of my favorite places in Taiwan, to gather research for my second article with Hip Compass Escapes. Our travels took us from the main island of Penghu on an island-hopping tour of Jibei, Chimei, and Wangan. You can read about our adventures on this beautiful island archipelago in Taiwan on pages 86 – 93.

I read your article ~ sounds like quite the place! HipCompass is a great magazine. I actually have a few questions for you about the publication if you’ve got a few minutes to spare … ???
Hi JoAnna,
The Pescadores is definitely one of my favorite places in Taiwan. I’m happy to answer your questions. Fire away!
I’ve never heard about Hip Compass Escapes before. Sounds like a magazine well worth reading. I will definitely check out your piece.

Thanks Erica. Hip Compass is coming up on its one year anniversary shortly after the new year. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
There’s a place in Taiwan called Pescadores? It sounds more like a Spanish or Portuguese town
I don’t think they sell Hip Compass here in Canada, do you know? I may have to try one of those international presse magazine stores
Congrats on the article!

Hi Jen,
Yes, there is, although here in Taiwan, everyone refers to these islands as Penghu. Hip Compass Escapes is an online digital magazine rather than a print publication, and it is published four times a year with Zinio. I used to be a big magazine reader, but I’ve recently discovered the joys of digital magazines. They last forever, they’re considerably cheaper, and they’re extremely eco-friendly!
You can subscribe to the magazine using the button in my sidebar. I believe a year’s subscription is $14.99.
