Last weekend, I participated in Scott Kelby’s 2nd Annual Worldwide Photowalk. This year’s photowalk doubled in size and became the biggest photowalk in the history of photography with over 36,000 participants. In total, over 900 photowalks took place on July 18th in over 400 cities worldwide.

Last year’s photowalk drew over 12,400 photographers from 47 countries all over the world. Over a million pictures were taken that day.
Taiwan hosted two photowalks this year. Photographers in Taipei and Taichung joined in the fun, with Craig Ferguson leading a group in Taipei and Mark Forman leading a group in Taichung.
Registration for the Taipei group filled up quickly once Craig had set the time and route for our walk. He also arranged for everyone to meet after the two hour walk was completed. We started at 4pm in the Xinyi District near Taipei 101 and ended up at Yuma Southwestern Grill near Zhongxiao Fuxing shortly after 6pm. Yuma did a great job of feeding a horde of 50 hungry photographers. We enjoyed a buffet dinner that included nachos, ribs, calamari, salad, and rice.
All in all, it was a great day. These are some of my favorite shots from the day. Check out my Photowalk album on Flickr if you’d like to see the rest of them.

And one more of some of the photographers…

Great photos Carrie and I’m glad you had a good time. Have you uploaded your 2 favorites yet?
Thanks Craig. I’d had troubles trying to upload. I’m going to try again tonight.
So. Ok. How come I’ve not heard of this event yet? But now that I have – thanks to you – I will watch out for it. I admire Scott Kelby for writing a no-frills photography book!
Here’s an interactive panorama that I made of all the photowalkers that came that day – http://tr.im/ul7a

Hi Geotacs,
Will do and thanks for stopping by again. I’m already gearing up for next year’s walk. I’m sure it’s going to be a great one!
Nice photos and I am so thrilled to know things like this exist in Taipei. It is such a photogenic city. I will be living here for a year teaching English. I have been doing a lot of photography but itching for a bigger format than my 35mm.
I would love to know where I could buy a medium format camera in Taiwan. I am looking to buy used as it would be a lot cheaper. If you could let me know I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks so much!
