Over the past few months, I’ve been branching out with my freelance writing and photography projects. My latest assignment is with a brand-new online travel magazine called Hip Compass Escapes. The summer issue was released just over a week ago and can be previewed here. My article and photography can be found on pages 42 and 43.
The magazine is the brainchild of Michelle Strashoon, author of the successful travel tidbits blog Hip Compass. Michelle also writes a popular weekly column called The Hip Compass Travel Guide, which is published every other Friday by The Daily Sound in Santa Barbara. As editor-in-chief, Michelle has pulled together a diverse and talented team of popular travel writers from the blogosphere. Subscribe and have the next issue delivered right to your inbox.

Fun read and good to learn about the Grand Hotel but it’s really the restaurant that’s enticing me.
Ha. Anil, you and I are two peas in a pod. I’m a foodie for sure. One of the things I love about travel is eating out and trying new food. Ambiance and good grub make me feel like I’ve died and gone to heaven.
A green digital magazine this is the first that I saw. Its a wonderful idea. I read your article the day plan seems great. The lost in Africa photos are stunning. so many places to see.. so much on the wish list.
Thanks Lilliy. I’m glad you like the magazine.
Wow. The format for ‘Escapes’ is really cool. Dig the digital delivery. Well exceuted and beautiful!
Thanks Daniel. I think Michelle’s done a great job putting it all together.
Very nice!
Thanks Rich!
