Two of my favorite bloggers have had an exciting month. Nomadic Matt and Nora Dunn have both ventured into the world of book publishing.
Nomadic Matt has just released his first e-book on how to make money while traveling. Matt has been very successful at monetizing his blog and has some wonderful advice on how to go about getting started.
Matt makes over $3,000 a month on his travel websites – more than enough to keep a digital nomad traveling for a long time. His ebook contains tips, tricks, and advice on how to build a successful blog while maintaining a high rank in Google’s search engine.
The ebook is split into 6 helpful sections:
1. Starting a Blog- Basic but necessary information about picking a niche and choosing what kind of travel blog to have.
2. Installing Your Blog- All about choosing the right website name, picking a Wordpress theme, and installing SEO plugins.
3. Getting Traffic- How to use sites like Stumble Upon, attract followers, find other bloggers, and use Twitter and Facebook to your advantage to build a community around your blog.
4. Search Engine Optimization- Detailed information about SEO, how it works, site optimization, link building, and where to find those valuable links.
5. Monetizing Your Blog- Covers the main types of advertising, which work best for different sites, how much to charge, and where to find willing advertisers.
6. Putting it All Together- What to expect from all of this and how to best utilize your time.
Matt’s e-book takes you through the whole process of blogging, SEO, and monetizing your website. Matt also explains the value and power of links, and most importantly, he shows you where to find high quality links that will get you a high Google page rank. Congratulations to you both!

Make money while traveling? 3000US$? :S
God, If I had a cent for everytime I heard that. No offense intended to Matt, I like the guy and his blog, but there’s no way he’s making it only based on his blog.
But, good luck to him. Publishing an ebook is a nice accomplishment, whatever the content.
Hey Fili,
Matt isn’t pulling all of this in on one blog as far as I know. Nomadic Matt is his most popular site, but he’s also been quite crafty at setting up his other sites as well.
I bought Matt’s book… Good news – bad news for me.
The good news is that it’s great information, easy to understand and pretty much covers everything A – Z. The bad news? I was in the middle of re-designing my blog and website but after reading Matt’s book I stopped everything mid-stream and started over!
Hi Michael,
That does suck, but I bet it will all be worth it in the end. I can’t wait to see the new design!
Sweet – Thanks so much, Carrie!
I’m enjoying the ride these days….I’ll bet you are too, Matt!
Hi Nora,
You’re welcome. Congratulations again!
It is a great book, isn’t it Carrie. We can one day say: I remember Nomadic Matt back when he was just starting out.
Ha! I know what you mean. He’s well on his way to being a huge success!
I am in the mid of designing my new travel blog but I haven’t really made time enough to get down and really work on it. I am blogging now still on blogger.com but Matt has inspired me among others like GoBackpacking to self host my own blog. I keep reading good reviews about that e-book once I am more serious in working on my site Ill probably buy it. But $25 its a bet much I think. but every body who bought it seems to say its worth it.
Hi Lilliy,
Best of luck to you in getting your site finished. Self-hosting opens up a world of possibilities. I’m glad that you’ve been able to find others who inspire you.
I haven’t bought Matt’s ebook yet. Thinking about buying it, though. Maybe I should.
Hi Jen,
Definitely. It’s full of great tips and tricks.
