A la recherche du temps perdu/In search of time lost - by Yu-fen Guo
Lost in You
Fears and tears mingle.
The divine storms strike a dark age
of diaspora, leaving the modifiers dangle,
lost in you, a subject consumed with rage.
When the sky is clear
will the trampled feathers dry
and soar in full gear?
Lost in you, the vista of years doth fly.
Time gone and the time to come
meet in a flash of blazing light
blinding my eyes in this game of zero-sum.
Lost in you. So quick didst thou take thy flight…

About the Artist:
“Hi. My name is Yu-Fen. I’m a English university lecturer here in Taiwan. I’m also a former editor and book translator. I’ve worked for several prominent publishers, such as: Time Express magazine, and China Times Publishing co. I enjoy learning different languages, writing creative verses and I’m also an illustrator. Most of my illustrations are caricatures, because I like to make people laugh. Most of these were done in my 1.5-year sojourn in France when my life was most carefree. I have published several translated works as well. The most well-known is “The Famous Crimes about Dr. Henry Lee”.
Over the past year of Flickr experience, my writing passion has been rekindled by several creative artists including poets and photographers. My ultimate goal is to be able to publish my own writings with my own illustrations one day! My heartfelt thanks to Carrie, the hostess of this blog, who is so generous to offer me an opportunity to meet her readers! Thank you so much, dear Carrie! You are most encouraging!”
Afterward by Carrie Marshall:
Good friends are hard to find. That’s why I consider myself so lucky to have stumbled upon Yu-fen’s photostream on Flickr a few months ago. Since then, we’ve built a fast, but steady friendship and I find myself looking forward to hearing from her each week. Yu-fen is one of those people you automatically feel at ease with. I know I can share things with her without fear of being judged. More importantly, Yufen has inspired and encouraged me to move beyond the boundaries of my photography. I’ve found myself playing around with my photos to create images with more of an artistic flair. Yu-fen is always there with encouraging words and, if I’m lucky, her trademark in-depth analysis, which seem to delight all her flickr friends.
Yu-fen is a passionate artist. Her artwork moves like deep water, with layers of warmth, light, depth and darkness. One immediately thinks of the term, “old soul” when pondering over her artwork and verses. Yufen is witty, intelligent, well-traveled and absolutely 100% full of life. She is a constant source of inspiration and motivation. She pushes the boundaries of her work and has a flair for re-inventing something mundane and ordinary and turning it into something completely vibrant and memorable with her own very unique and utterly captivating style.
I am so incredibly pleased to have met her and there isn’t a doubt in my mind that this is the start of a very long, rich and meaningful friendship. Yufen truly is a treasure waiting to be discovered.
Yu-fen, thank you for your constant support and encouragement. Your daily comments and messages mean the world to me!

Yu-Fen
