An Unveiling of My Several Worlds.com
After 14 months of hosting a blog at wordpress.com, I’ve finally made a giant leap by moving to my own domain and to a new level of blogging.
Looking back, I’ve seen myself grow in many ways. My interests for blogging and social networking have grown in leaps and bounds and my attempts at photography have slowly developed into something I can be proud of. My Several Worlds has been my creative outlet for the last year and a half and moving forward from this is like shedding skin. I’m starting out all over again with MySeveralWorlds.com only I’m starting out bigger and better.
The next six months are going to be a trial and error phase that, hopefully, won’t drive too many of you away. I’m a bit intimidated by the changes I want to make and my ability to do so properly, but I’m excited by these new challenges as well.
For those of you who read My Several Worlds on a regular basis, I would love your input. You will be seeing a few different approaches over the next little while, so please tell me what you think and don’t be afraid to offer constructive criticism. I’m still tweaking some things. Hopefully I’ll get all the glitches ironed out in the next few months. Please let me know what you like or don’t like.
In particular, I’d like to thank Fili and MJ Klein, who have been encouraging me to make this move and have helped immensely. Fili helped me get this project off the ground by getting me started with importing everything from Wordpress. Yesterday, John and I traveled to Hukou to see MJ. MJ helped me with some things I just couldn’t manage on my own. I’m really really grateful for your help.

And, there’s loads more just around the corner!
Welcome to the new My Several Worlds!
Nice. When I read “magazine-style layout” my first thought was uh-oh, it’s going to be all cluttered and horrible like the Real Taiwan site (sorry RT if you’re reading!) but no you’ve pulled it off very nicely.
congrats! site looks great. it is a scary leap going from the comfy free wordpress, but it really does nothing for you. you can do so much more with this site. so happy for you. can’t wait to see what amazing things come from this revamp of my several worlds.
ps. if you have any probs or plugin questions, i’m here to help!
Looks like the new site is off to a great start Carrie! Good work!
Naruwan,
Thanks for being the first to comment. I’m having fun and will keep in mind that readers enjoy an uncluttered interface, much like myself!
Hi Lisa,
You’re the sweetest. I love love love your site. Every time I drop by with a visit, I’m so impressed with everything you’ve done with it. BTW, your MASHABLE egg rocks!
Thanks Todd. There are still lots of changes to make. I’m missing my last 20 comments, and I can’t seem to move them over, which is disappointing. Hopefully, I’ll get everything sorted soon.
now you’re talking, Carrie! your new site looks great and i’ve subscribed to the RSS feed already! we’re here if you need us.
Wonderful. I’m glad to see it finally up and running, and your choice of theme and plugins is great.
Just make sure you take care of that Wordpress.com auto-redirection here, so you won’t lose any of your traffic and search engine authority.
Good luck.
Yo Carrie rockin baby! Expect good things!
Looks great Carrie. Much nicer than before. Best of luck.
Thanks MJ and Fili,
I’m tackling the header tonight since I’m having problems with it displaying in IE. I’m hoping to get everything redirected as well. I’ve finally figured out what’s going on with the tags, and I think I’ve fixed the problem. Thanks for stopping by!
Hola C! congratulations on the site…sure looks good!
BBluesman,
Always a pleasure to have you stop by. Thanks for the support.
Thanks Craig. We’ll see what happens. I can’t help feeling like I’m hanging out there with no safety net. I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing. I’m sure the tech guys at wordpress have a nickname for me now. He he.
great stuff and congrats!
Congratulations Carrie
