I want to bring your attention to one of my son’s blogs, poplicks.com, in which he had a mention of your student, Oliver Wang’s story – Haunted Basement. My son’s name is also Oliver Wang, and incidentally, he’s also a writer besides his other roles as a college professor, music critic and an occasional DJ.

What I find very interesting is how the two Oliver Wang’s looks resemble each other at the same age. Of course my son is much older (35 now), but when he was 10-11 years old, he did look like your student, the young Oliver.

We were sitting in class one day (it’s a one-on-one class) and I asked him what kind of stories he likes to read. He told me he really liked scary stories. I asked him what he would write about if he wrote a scary story and this is what he told me on that first day. It took him almost 3 weeks to finish it, and I’m simply amazed at the finished product. He worked so hard on it. I’m absolutely thrilled with it.
