Yep. Another year and another birthday. I’m celebrating my 33rd today. I’m thankful to be happy, healthy and in love. I’m thankful to have my family and friends with me, both near and far.
John surprised me with a bag of Be@rbricks last night. I’m a new collector, but with John’s addition I now have a collection of 15. He scoured the city and was able to hunt down three from the 2005 Taipei Toy Festival. He’s also contributing towards my new camera, which I should have shortly. We’re going to take a look at the two models I have in mind. I’m facing a dilemma most new photographers face when they upgrade. Canon or Nikon?
We’re celebrating tomorrow as our schedules are full today. The festivities begin at The Shannon at 9pm and then we’re going to shake our tailfeathers at Luxy until the wee hours of the morning (which usually means 1am or 2am for me at the latest!)
My Mom surprised me with a package at school yesterday. Thanks to her, my feet will be warm and cozy for the rest of the winter. She send the coolest pair of fluffy slipper boots since she knows I bitch about the cold every chance I get. Why oh why can’t buildings here have indoor heating? John and I are wandering our apartment in pj’s, hats, scarves, mittens and blankets.
I’m spending the day with my favorite class, which makes it extra special. I’m looking forward to spending a quiet day with John tomorrow and I can’t wait to see Joanna tomorrow night, as we never seem to have enough time together. Birthdays are always great when they involve good friends and great fun!

oh man, this lack of central heating is killing me too. this year seems much colder than last. i have been sticking close to my little space heater. thankfully this weather only lasts for a few weeks.

hmmm Canon or Nikon? here’s my take on it, and i’ve used both depending upon what type you’re interested in purchasing:
Point and Shoot: Canon
DSLR: Nikon
next time i see you i will give you a demo of the Nikon Creative Lighting System and the built-in wireless flash control system built into every new Nikon DSLR. there are features in Nikon DSLRs that others can only dream of.

Don’t listen to the haters, Canon is where it’s at. The software is much better than Nikon’s. They have the largest percentage of the market for a reason: They make a damn good DSLR.

I’m glad the weather has warmed up a bit, although we’re still freezing here. A space heater doesn’t do us much good because the ceilings are too high and our place is too big. We’re just trying to make the best of things.

I’ve narrowed it down to the Canon 400D and the Nikon D80. I know which one you’d pick!

Thanks for all your help and the birthday wishes. Funny you should mention that Canon is where it’s at. I went camera shopping today and there was someone looking at the Canon 400D starter kit at every store we went into. I couldn’t believe it! In some places, there were 2 or 3 out on the counter. I know it’s number one in the search engines right now. You can’t beat the price and I have to say, your photos are top-notch. My jaw drops every time I stop by your site.
Happy Birthday. If you don’t have any Canon or Nikon lenses etc already, then choose by which one feels better in your hands. The PMA trade show is on Jan 31st-Feb 2nd. PMA os the largest annual photo trade show and rumors are going around that the Nikon D80 and Canon 400D are going to be updated/replaced. You might want to wait before buying – either to be able to buy the newest, or to pick up the 400D/D80 a bit cheaper as stores drop prices to clear stock.

Then I read this article. WE SHARE THE SAME BIRTHDAY. Same year, same month, and same day.
Of course, I know we are not the only two people born on Jan. 18; one of my friend was born on this day, too, but a year later. Still this is a surprise to know someone was born exactly the same day when I was born.

As Craig mentioned above, Canon launched EOS 450D XSi on 24th so there will be a drop in price of EOS 400D XTi model.
I am also contemplating on this Canon/Nikon dilemma for sometime now.
