We tried this tasty local Vietnamese delicacy in a small village along the Mekong Delta. It’s known as Elephant Fish. This post is in response to the Bushman’s post on Tonight at Sushi Express.
Dear readers, if you’re at all interested in international food, be sure to check out the Bushman’s blog. Amazing recipes. Eye-catching photos and if you’re in the area, I can guarantee you’ll be welcomed with open arms for an impromptu grill party.

Carrie, wow, was i ever wrong about that fish! Hui-chen and i have considerable Mekong river experience, but we’ve never run across that primitive beast of a fish before! thank you very much for taking the time to go through your formidable photographic collection to find this one for us. the presentation is certainly interesting! we would love to have joined you for that meal! how did the fish taste?
we thank you for your kind words about us and our blog, and for linking to us!
I have to admit, I was a little uneasy when they place it in front of us. It was good though. I’m not a huge fish eater, but it didn’t have a lot of bones despite it’s thorny looking exterior.
My pleasure MJ. Your recent post on Dutch oven cooking had John and I salivating last night. We’re considering a bike ride this weekend, weather permitting. We might be heading your way.
MMM!! I loves me some feeshy! I’m so starved right now.
